Uncertainty

Each day is a chance
to grab onto life’s raft
The ride that just keeps moving
Through all the darkest moments
And the greatest joys,
It just keeps plowing on
Moving through thickened winter ice
Breaking into small pieces
Steadily, slowly, keeping on.

eagle in pineDSC_4699Be with me
it sings into the ice filled air.
I am never full, there is always room for you
I am your journey that pulls you into each day
Or leaves you far behind upon the shore
And yet I come for you each day
Gently beckoning you to take the ride.
Join me sweet child.
Feeling all there is to feel,
Loving all the different kinds of weather
Beaming love into each port.

It is a light filled raft
An open boat unto the sun
My skin is singed and torched with your love
An ever present moment of feeling
That I am not alone
In this sea of nothingness
In this air of not knowing

Sweet flurry

snowy nuthatchDSC_8519

The birds are feeding.
And gaining more fuel
To get through their day.
As they take off in flight
And they hop
And they eat
Their communion is sweet!

A flurry of feathers
On a cruelly cold day
Can warm any heart
bjay facing leftDSC_3801And create a new start.

Life is fast
And precious
And real.
Savor this moment
And just how you feel

Always

In this moment of peace and tranquility
All is forgiven

I stand as if far away
Removed from the fray
Watching, but not harmed.

I smile at everyone’s rushed and worried walk
Thoughts tumbling and spilling over
Onto the sidewalk
Into the air we all breathe.

I am connected, and yet aloof
Alone and yet together.

Sending love through my fingertips
Radiating peace and understanding
Vibrating warmth and forgiveness.
So loved and cherished.

Oh Lamb of God
Hear my impassioned plea.
To be love.
To hold on to peace.
With gentleness
And reverence
Always.

A dewdrop’s gaze

In the darkness of the night
When your thoughts are flooding in
Roosting in your brain
Keeping you from sleep
There lies a peace so frail
Sitting at the edge
Of your periphery.
Like a crack of light under the door
It shows how things could be.weed with dew DSC_0066
It’s always there.
In every reverie
Waiting to gentle your thoughts
Protect your heart
Hug your unbelief
Turning each tear of longing
Into a golden jewel
flying off into the night.
A slice of heaven
In a dewdrop’s gaze.

An energy of love

b oriole dandelionsDSC_0001Dare I dip my toe into the water?
To feel the bubbling springs of life
The joys the love the overcoming sadness.
In the corner of my eye
I see a glow
A shimmering light.
She is no more
Upon this earthly plane.
But I can feel her heart
Beating without strain
Smiling and happy
An energy of love
Filled with kindness
Strength and Wisdom.
In life she was so frail.
In death, I feel her presence
In a tender gentle breeze
Through a fluttering bird’s wing
Or a loved one’s warm embrace.
She’s never far away.
I feel her every day.

A fear of fully being expressed

In the fiercest longest howlportholeDSC_0246
Lies a fear of fully being
Expressed.
Trust in me
I’m lemony real
A tartness in your mouth
A pucker in your lips
No way not to feel
A new idea is birthed
Seeping its way into the world
As a dense fog
Waiting for the warmest sunshine
To unearth its wonder
A fleeting runaway thoughtin the muted forestDSC_6086
Sailing in the distance
Catch me if you can!
A shimmery orb
Riding with the waves
A light that seems so frail
And yet pervades my all

Silhouette Heat

As I was sitting by Lake Michigan at a restaurant with a lakeview, I saw this guy skipping stones and a couple that were taking off together in their little boat. I loved the energy in this moment, and it seemed to have a heat in it! The boy was getting ready to skip that stone, and really throw it hard into the lake. And the couple were perhaps looking to have a romantic moment further out in the water, alone. But in that 1 instant, they were in the same ‘frame’. I loved seeing this from the shore.

The peace inside my heart

unconditional loveDSC_0018

I want to know a peace
That lives inside my heart
And travels to all corners
Of this earth.
Every soul will hear the words:
‘Lay down your swords
And end all wars.
The ‘enemy’ does not exist.
He’s just a man
With a family
He wants to see another day.
Feel his breathing
Feel his start
And hold him closer to your heart’

This poem is dedicated to my grandfather who chose not to bomb a city in Russia many years ago.  He said these people have families just like my family at home, and I can’t do this.  He deserted his unit and became a prisoner of war for 13 years. I really don’t know anybody today that I admire so much.  He was the most honorable and courageous man I ever knew. He wrote a beautiful poem to his son, (the  uncle I never met), who went missing in action. It expressed the pain he felt over losing his son.  I feel in my heart that war is wrong and there is always a way to resolve problems without violence. Let us all desire peace enough to make it happen.
