There is always light

There is so much to be concerned about in the news today. There are certainly not a lot of good stories out there. But every once in a while you get reminded that kindness and decency exist anyway. A couple weekends ago, when I was in Wisconsin with a good friend, I left my camera behind in West Bend, where we had lunch! Didn’t realize it until we got home. I called the restaurant and they still had my camera and said they would keep it safe for me until I picked it up. Wow! I was so floored, so relieved and so grateful all at the same time.

So here’s a picture I took the next day around West Bend, after retrieving the camera. There is always light, just remember that, there is always light shining through.

Change of heart

A sound bitten moment
Went by unnoticed
There were no hashtags
No pictures, no press.

But a heart was changed.

You could hear the whisper
As her soul released
An angry hurting burden.
And in that void
A heart was free to feel
To cry, to laugh
To love, to be.

Safely cradled by her angel
She beamed love and meaning
Through her bloodstream
Hope and tenderness
caressed her.
Grace and strength
Shone from her eyes.

Now she could be in the world
Fulfilling her true nature.

Dancing on the petals
Glistening in the morning warmth
Evaporating into air
As the day gets long
And the heat is set.
Fading and disappearing
From our view.
Like a life that once was solid
And now is floating all around,
In, and through us.

Catharsis

Beauty pops out
Sometimes sparsely
In the beginning of spring,
Barely hanging on to a bleak landscape

But as spring takes hold,
It sprinkles the old brown leaves,
The dirt and gray twigs
With bold colors and designs.

Blessing all the eyes that see
Caressing the nose that smells such beauty
A beacon and a herald to the explosion of spring
The catharsis in each of us
That’s meant to be seen, heard, felt,
and blessed
By our understanding.

A Shimmer

There was a shimmer to my left
A dancing white light
I wondered if I really saw it
Out of the corner of my eye.
But I could feel its energy
As it washed over me
And cleansed me of all doubts
Like a salve, a magic tonic,
A healing touch without a hand
Just a feeling that came over me.
A healing of my thoughts.
A reminder of the love inside my heart
To let it out and be a blessing
The blessing that I always am
But got so far away from.

Leaning Towards Light

This plant seems to be decaying, and at the end of its season of beauty. And yet it’s still leaning towards light. It will bend as far as it needs to, to be underneath that light.  I see that light as God nourishing and Soul refreshing. And the plant instinctively leans towards it. No matter, it’s age, or decay, or how many more days it has left. May we all lean towards the light, every day. And feel God’s sustaining loving hand, in all of our affairs. Big and small. We will never stop needing Him. And He is always with us.

Little Angel

In this space of anything is possible
Help my heart to just love
Without conditions
Or paybacks in mind
Just kindly give when I’m moved
Just be a blessing in a moment.

An angel that swoops in
And brushes your cheek with her kiss
And strokes your hair with her light.

A smile and change
To the homeless person
No judgments or worries
Where the money’s being spent

Help changing a flat tire
In the middle of the expressway,

Giving that new person
A ride to work.

Whatever the moment brings
Help me to be up for it.
Filled with love
Gratititude
And infinite blessings
From on high.
